Why still their a reason to download without R2 version?
Because the report server where you publish your reports may problem with older schema you upload..

Fixing the ACL and Authentication issues :-

Some of the info are given at this site which can be used for further readings

Rest,  most of the issue can be fixed by following the steps below..
Back Up your Config  at:-

C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS10.SQLEXPRESS\Reporting Services\ReportServer\rsreportserver.config

and try replacing the authentication section with the below..
" Authentication

      AuthenticationTypes
        RSWindowsNTLM
      AuthenticationTypes
      EnableAuthPersistence true EnableAuthPersistence
    Authentication

Assign  proper rights to underlying folder for reportserver and reportmanager  folder which are loacted at
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS10.SQLEXPRESS\Reporting Services\\
